Drive unit
Diagnostics
Strange noises, loss of power, or warning lights can be signs of drive unit failure. To define the problem, it is necessary to conduct qualified diagnostics using specific diagnostic software and to perform physical inspections for visible signs of damage or wear.
Drive unit repair, replacement & programming
Drive unit repair is possible for minor issues such as worn bearings, seals, gears, electronic components, or loose wires. However, if significant damage or wear is detected, the unit must be replaced and further aligned with the Tesla vehicle’s computer system.
Drive unit bearing replacement
If you notice increased noise or vibration when driving your Tesla, it may be due to worn bearings in the drive unit. Addressing this problem timely and replacing the bearings can prevent more costly repairs in the future.
Drive unit preventative care
To prevent Tesla drive unit failure, it is important to perform its regular maintenance. During drive unit preventative care we check electrical parameters of the motor, absence of mechanical damage, the condition of the stator, rotor, and the cooling system.
Reduction gear repair
Reduction gear repair involves repairing or replacing any damaged or worn components, i.e., replacing the drive unit bearing, sealing ring, and any broken components of the reduction gear like gears, shafts, or housing.
Reduction gear oil flush
Tesla’s drive unit uses oil to lubricate the gear reduction and differential. This oil also acts as a coolant to remove heat from the stator and rotor. It is necessary to regularly refill the reduction gear oil to avoid friction and abrasion that cause unnecessary wear.
