HVAC - heating, ventilation, air conditioning
To solve issues as lack of heat or cold air, strange noises, poor airflow, or bad odors, it is necessary to conduct HVAC system diagnostics that check components like heater core, blower motor, AC compressor, thermostat, refrigerant levels, vents, and cabin air filter.
The refrigerant level that fills the AC system decreases over time because of leaks or evaporation, which leads to reduced cooling efficiency. Regular AC system recharge involves replenishing the refrigerant to ensure the efficient functioning of the air AC system.
AC compressors are usually durable, but without proper maintenance or due to normal wear and tear or electrical faults, they can start producing unusual noises, burning smells, visible leaks, or stop cooling the air. In this case, the AC compressor must be replaced.
It is necessary to renew the cabin air filter every 2 years (3 years if equipped with HEPA) or earlier if you notice decreased airflow, persistent odors, or increased dust inside the vehicle. Timely changes help ensure the efficient operation of the HVAC system.
Tesla louvers help control the airflow to various vehicle components, including the HV battery pack, to prevent overheating. It is important to regularly check their functionality, repair or replace stuck or damaged louvers, and lubricate moving parts.
Tesla cabin heaters can fail due to faulty blower motors, thermostat or electrical connection issues, damaged heater core, etc. Minor problems like loose electrical connections can be repaired, while major issues may require components or entire unit replacement.
